Formal email - Anna Cerdán

To whom it may concern, I am writing to complain about the bad condition of the MP3 which I bought on your site Gadgets last Friday, and which I consider that does not look like in the photography online. When I opened the package, the MP3 was a bit broken, as if someone had hit it during the route between the warehouse and my house. In addition, when I turned on it, the sound it emitted was completely horrible and not as “the perfect sound” it was indicated on your website. Finally, I have attached a photography of the broken MP3 to show you its condition. I would be grateful if you could exchange the gadget for another in good health. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Anna Cerdán

Informal email - Verónica Rojas

Hi there, It was great to hear from you, it’s been weeks since we last talked. Hope everything goes well. Do you remember I talked to you about my trip to Iceland? Well, I’ve recently come back and I’ve got lots of things to explain. I set off for Reykjavík on Monday 6 th at 4 a.m., and we arrived at 6 a.m. local time. My father had to stay working, but my mother got a permission from work and we’ve actually enjoyed an amazing trip. We’ve been there almost two weeks, and we’ve done a route around the hole island visiting every possible village. It’s amazing because the people in there are so nice and trusting. One day, we came across a little hut where they were selling strawberries, but the surprising thing was that there was no one waiting to receive your money after paying. They just had confidence that we would leave money instead of leaving without paying and taking the strawberry box. Everything has been incredible and very beautiful, so I have to say that it’s been

Discussion essay - Anna Cerdán

Currently, many people consider that speaking two languages is very useful to have a better future. However, are there only advantages on being bilingual?   On the one hand, it is believed that learning an alternative language makes people able to get a better job, especially in social jobs, because they can communicate with a larger number of people, and they are able to travel to different countries and speak fluently with the residents. Moreover, being bilingual makes people more cultured and this is often said to be a great thing. On the other hand, it can also be argued that having two native tongues can create a mix-up with the two languages when people are trying to use only one. In addition, if this second language is not native and it is learned in a languages school it costs money, and some people consider this a disadvantage. From my point of view, speaking two languages have more benefits than only speaking one. I believe that is never a bad thing increasing o

Opinion essay - Verónica Rojas

The best invents that people have created during our history are the ones which let us get closer to each other and the ones that facilitate our contact with other people. In my view, things like the telephone or Internet give us a sensation of nearness to the ones we love, knowing that we can get in touch with them whenever we want. Focusing on technological devices such as the mobile phone, a computer, or a television, for people, being able to stay connected to others and knowing that they could be informed about whatever happens at the moment, is something that brings them confidence and no worries. In addition, having a mobile phone increases the contact between people because it is easier for them to maintain a conversation and faster to get an answer back. As far as I am concerned, Interned has made our life richer, considering that nowadays people are always connected to their networks and they are always receiving notifications that provide a lot of new informati

ICT DIALOGUE - Verónica Rojas

Zoë and Blake, two teachers at the NY High  school are discussing the rights and wrongs of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a school subject, in the teachers’ room. Zoë: Look what I read about! At some important school in Los Angeles, there has been a huge demonstration in favour of adding the subject of Information and Communication Technology, because the director refused to do it. Blake: What? What is that subject about? Zoë: Well, I think that as its name shows, ICT is focused on technology contents and it could be very useful now, and in the future, considering the evolution of informatics. Blake: Yeah, but… I don’t’ know… I think adding a subject like this could be understood like a refutation of classic modes of communication and it could influence people to choose it visualizing    the subject content as if it was the most important knowledge for their future. Zoë: I see your point, but we have to accept that technologies and informat

Dialogue - Anna Cerdán

Noa and Lara, two teachers of a school in Barcelona, are discussing the rights and the wrongs of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a school subject. Noa: I’ve heard that the next school year the director is going to add the subject of Information and Communication. Lara: I can’t believe what you’re saying! You can’t be serious! Noa: What happens? What’s your opinion about this subject? Lara: Well, I’m not too sure but, in my opinion, there are other subjects that I consider more important than ICT. Noa: I don’t think so, because, nowadays, technology is the basis of our society and we’ve to teach people how to use it in a good way. Lara: Yes, I know it, but I also consider that people spend too many hours using technology and some teenagers have a kind of obsession with social networks or videogames. For this reason, I think adding ICT classes can increase this obsession and deteriorate the life of our students. Noa: Ok, I understand

An opinion essay - How would be our life with the life-replay ? - Eloi Bota

According to the best techonlogists, they are realising that all the new tecnologich products they are creating seem to be good for people, but also, can be perjudicial. Talking about this a new product, that is called life-replay, could be created by them in a future and it brigs some positive and negative things to the people. It seems to me that this new product, life-replay, is used to reproduce all the things a person has seen with his eyes if he has an appliance injected in his ear, so I think is a good way to remember things or to live again some expirencies. What is more, this product brings you also negative things, because with this product everyone will know all the things you have done and you won't have the privace that you'd like to have. If a person doesn't want to explain what has done is not necessary to force him or her to say it. To sum up, this product hasn't been created yet, and I hope that in a future the technologists won't create it, b
