Currently, many people consider that speaking two languages is very useful to have a better future. However, are there only advantages on being bilingual?   On the one hand, it is believed that learning an alternative language makes people able to get a better job, especially in social jobs, because they can communicate with a larger number of people, and they are able to travel to different countries and speak fluently with the residents. Moreover, being bilingual makes people more cultured and this is often said to be a great thing. On the other hand, it can also be argued that having two native tongues can create a mix-up with the two languages when people are trying to use only one. In my view, things like the telephone or Internet give us a sensation of nearness to the ones we love, knowing that we can get in touch with them whenever we want. Focusing on technological devices such as the mobile phone, a computer, or a television, for people, being able to stay connected to others and knowing that they could be informed about whatever happens at the moment, is something that brings them confidence and no worries. Zoë and Blake, two teachers at the NY High  school are discussing the rights and wrongs of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a school subject, in the teachers’ room. Zoë: Look what I read about! At some important school in Los Angeles, there has been a huge demonstration in favour of adding the subject of Information and Communication Technology, because the director refused to do it. Blake: What? What is that subject about? Zoë: Well, I think that as its name shows, ICT is focused on technology contents and it could be very useful now, and in the future, considering the evolution of informatics. Noa and Lara, two teachers of a school in Barcelona, are discussing the rights and the wrongs of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a school subject. Noa: I’ve heard that the next school year the director is going to add the subject of Information and Communication. Lara: I can’t believe what you’re saying! You can’t be serious! Noa: What happens? What’s your opinion about this subject? Lara: Well, I’m not too sure but, in my opinion, there are other subjects that I consider more important than ICT. Noa: I don’t think so, because, nowadays, technology is the basis of our society and we’ve to teach people how to use it in a good way. Lara: Yes, I know it, but I also consider that people spend too many hours using technology and some teenagers have a kind of obsession with social networks or videogames. Talking about this a new product, that is called life-replay, could be created by them in a future and it brigs some positive and negative things to the people. It seems to me that this new product, life-replay, is used to reproduce all the things a person has seen with his eyes if he has an appliance injected in his ear, so I think is a good way to remember things or to live again some expirencies. What is more, this product brings you also negative things, because with this product everyone will know all the things you have done and you won't have the privace that you'd like to have.
